Here Today, Gone For Good?

Note: This piece was originally published on Creators.Co

The joyous television event known as Upfronts is right around the corner! How does one know this? Because of this little thing called a cancellation spree. Typically this event precedes what is known as Upfronts week, which I’ll define in a few days time. But I will tell you about this cancellation spree, which may just be what I like to call it. It’s the time in May when broadcast networks take the ax to underperforming shows, no matter how well they may have been fairing with critics or how many awards they were winning or had been nominated for in the past. It’s why the above photo collage is overflowing. It’s a yearly ritual, but it tends to hurt on some level for those who have invested countless hours. Hopefully you didn’t watch too many of the now cancelled shows.

‘The Post’ Offers Plenty of Journalism Intrigue and Thrills in First Trailer

20th Century Fox

Historical and biographical films are great for numerous reasons. Mind you, I’m aware that it probably isn’t all that often and I’m really just blowing it out of proportion. But still, it’s irritating.

Signing Off

“The time has come”, the Walrus said, “To talk of many things: of shoes–and ships–
and sealing-wax–of cabbages–and kings–and why the sea is boiling hot–and whether pigs have wings.”

-Lewis Carroll, “The Walrus and The Carpenter” from “Through the Looking-Glass”

I may not talk of cabbages and kings or why the sea is boiling hot and whether pigs have wings, but I most definitely have some things to say. The time has most definitely come. This is the final post. Continue reading

10 Years: “28 Weeks Later”

Sequels are hard to get right or as close to right as possible. There’s so many expectations that it’s a wonder any manage to come through at all. Typically they just fall short, and it really doesn’t matter how many ways they do so. Sometimes though, you get a sequel that’s just good enough, that all other issues can easily be looked past. There’s plenty that makes it just the right amount of fun, no matter how much time has passed. Continue reading
