‘Ratatouille’ Is Fun And Delightful 10 Years Later

Disney/Pixar

The Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures film Ratatouille is another win for the studio behind so many of our favorite animated films! I’m seriously hating myself right now. I have, yet again, which really is becoming a thing, a confession. I’ve never seen this particular animated film. Are you done? Stop it. Stop laughing or sighing or gasping in shock. It’s just one of those things. I’m amazed myself as I’m someone who’ll watch any Pixar film released. Does that mean I’ll like it? No. But I’ll give it a shot or seriously consider doing so. That’s why we call it marketing.

Checking Into Room ‘1408’ Is Still Not A Smart Idea, But It Is Fun 10 Years Later

Dimension Films

When it comes to an adaptation it’s basically up in the air on whether or not it’ll be as good as you imagine. Sometimes writers and directors manage to come pretty close, other times, they’re way off mark. Some of it’s just going to depend on how you approach the film knowing it’s an adaptation. Are you particularly attached to it? Have you read the original source material? Have you even heard of it? Any of these things, among so many others, like who wrote the original story, could greatly affect the way you view the film adaptation.

10 Years Later ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ Is Slightly Better But It’s Mostly All For Not

20th Century Fox

With a sequel to a film that badly started a franchise, you’d think it’d be easier to clear the low bar that had been set. Sadly, not all films can follow up in some big and impressive way. For those films, all one can do is see it and judge it for what it has to offer. If you’re revisiting it after so many years, like I am with this film’s 10 year anniversary now upon us, it might be even harder to view the film at all. You’ve had an opinion about it for years and have heard all there is to hear about how bad it is. But maybe an aging film can surprise you. Show you something you didn’t see before. Give a new kind of life to a film you’d previously believed beneath you. Or, it could be this film. That pretty much speaks for itself.

‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ Is Still Entertaining Enough, But Is Missing Something Special 10 Years Later

Warner Bros.

Note: This piece was originally published on Creators.co.

There’s a phrase (idea?) that seems like it’s becoming commonplace in today’s world of films. Sequel fatigue. It’s exactly as it sounds. So many sequels in any given year, most that don’t actually do all that well critically or commercially, especially when compared to the previous film(s) in the franchise, and ones that, more often than not, audiences probably didn’t want nor asked for. While sequels in general are nothing new, even in 2007, they seem to have gotten worse. Become increasingly annoying. Perhaps, along with what it says overall, this film is some kind of a precursor to what we see today.

‘Veronica Mars’ Is Still Smarter Than You 10 Years After The Series Finale

Warner Bros.

Note: This piece was originally published on Creators.co.

Well, it’s finally come, Marshmallows! I’ll let you determine if this is a sad or happy thing, but as with all things, it must get another year older. In the case of the Warner Bros. Television series Veronica Mars this birthday marks a bitter-sweet moment in the show’s history. It’s been 10 years since the series finale aired and the show went off the air for what should’ve been forever. But, if you’ve been paying attention at all, that wasn’t the case. However, that’s a discussion for another time.

Sequels are hard to get right or as close to right as possible. There’s so many expectations that it’s a wonder any manage to come through at all. Typically they just fall short, and it really doesn’t matter how many ways they do so. Sometimes though, you get a sequel that’s just good enough, that all other issues can easily be looked past. There’s plenty that makes it just the right amount of fun, no matter how much time has passed. Continue reading

10 Years: “Waitress”

v1FCGED1IE

Some films you know you loved the first time, but can’t remember the why. Perhaps it’s been years since you last saw it. Perhaps there’s something else within the film that when viewed you can instantly connect with. Whatever it is, another viewing of said film may definitely be in order. If you don’t rediscover what it is that made you love it the first time, maybe you can at least learn something else. That’s the beauty of rewatching a film you haven’t seen in some time.
