While it’s been in full swing for some time now, with the nominations for the 2017 Critics’ Choice Awards now having been announced (annoyingly early this morning), it’s a clear indicator that awards season is upon us, and won’t be slowing down any time soon. If you’re like me, you’re over the moon about this. If not, well, there’s really no helping you.

Award shows come every year, but mostly in a massive wave. You hardly have time to recover from the previous one, or two, when the next batch is upon you. It’s what makes awards season so exciting, especially as it honors film, but it’s also tiring. So much to keep track of and watch, how does one have time for anything else? So, when it does happen, that you have a lone awards show going on, it’s best to just enjoy the moment. It’ll be the last time you watch a ceremony and are completely relaxed.

So many films and actors and other creatives are all vying for the top prize, and it couldn’t be any more nerve racking. Who will win? Independent films come and go so quickly, it seems impossible to be sure a given one even exists at all. Yet, indie films do, and the world is truly better off because of it. The time has come, and no, this isn’t involving that damn walrus. The time has come to reveal my predictions for the final major awards show in this year’s awards season. It was no easy task. This year had so many films, many, of all sorts, overlooked, and we still got so many good ones to choose from. But, how do you pick when you like all the nominees and wouldn’t mind seeing any of them win?

After a great year in film, and much debate on what will or won’t be nominated, not to mention what is or isn’t the best, the time has come to once again recognize the work in a myriad of films. The only and best question left to ask is, how well did you do on predicting the nominees?

Normally I wouldn’t say anything about this particular award. Why do I need to? The award itself says enough. This year just seemed to be the most appropriate time to start. It was, after all, chalked full of terrible films.
